About Us

Solo Farm is a small family owned and operated farm located in central Alabama near the banks of the Coosa River.  We have a beautiful black/white tobiano stallion;

Allen's Solo Spirit, and presently have nine outstanding mares.  We specialize in spotted Tennessee Walking colts.  At Solo Farm, we strive to turn out six to eight quality colts a year.  All of our foals are imprinted and handled daily from birth.

Each mare is brought into a separate foaling pen where we can monitor the birth and begin the imprinting process as soon as the foal is born.  We put halters on the foals the day they are born and handle them daily for the first six weeks.  At six weeks, we allow the mare and foal back into pasture with other mares and foals so they can acquire their natural herd behaviors and discipline.  We continue to catch the foals in the pasture every couple of days and ask them to practice their leading and handling.  The end result is a well mannered colt at weaning that you can catch anywhere in the pasture and can easily adapt to any particular training program.

In addition to our breeding stock, we have a couple of beautiful geldings that we enjoy trail riding.  We also enjoy attending the various horse shows in Tennessee as often as we can.  We are members of the Tennessee Walking Horse Association, The Racking Horse Breeders Association, The National Spotted Saddle Horse Association, and the Spotted Saddle Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association.  We are also qualified as a SSHBEA Inspector and can assist you with the registration process of your Spotted Saddle Horses.
